Preseason Top 10
1. Freehold Twp - Brings back almost everyone. They will need to replace Kelsey Gilroy who anchored their defense last season. Losing last year's POY Cassidy Corcione to an injury will hurt but they are still very loaded. Seniors Kayla Wong and Gabby Koluch will lead this team against a tough schedule. Coach Patterson wanted to test his team and he put together a great schedule. Sophomore Ashley Moore proved during states she can handle the pressure in net. Sophomore Gaby Parker scored 15 goals to be tied for 3rd on the team. Look for Ainsley Moy to be in contention for POY this season in the Shore after scoring 18 Goals and 12 assists last year.
2. Lacey - Lacey looks to build on their SJ3 Title. They bring back the majority of their team including my Freshman of the Year Natalie McGovern who led the team with 14 goals. Junior goalie Lorynn Leporino stepped up big time last year in states, coming up big against Mainland in a shootout to win the title. Their defense will be very strong led by Riley Giordano, Marley Besser and Sofia Reid.
3. TRN - Good news they bring back both leading scorers, senior Madison DiEugenio and junior Alexa Garcia. Bad news: they graduated they're defensive back line. It might take a few games for Coach Miller to figure out the right line up back there but they will be dangerous like usual. Madison will be in contention for Shore Conference POY this year with her ability to score and setting everyone up with her passing.
4. RBC - A team that has graduated a ton of players over the last two years but Coach Lawrence always has the next player ready to step up. First will be in net to replace 3 year starter Cleo Grignard, last year Peyton Auriemma did see a couple games in net so she has some game time. Next, losing Morgan Cupo and her production will need to be replaced. Junior Mya King returning from injury will be the focal point for defenses this season and RBC will have to find ways to get her the ball. The team will be led by seniors Gianna Romeo up front and Sophia Racioppi in the back. Losing junior and All Shore defender Jyvanna Harris to injury will hurt their back line.
5. Wall - Wall is a team that graduated a ton of players but always finds a way to stay in the top 10. They will be lead by senior Kiertsen Brown who is their #1 scoring option. In net they rotate 2 juniors Nelly Bianchi and Saige Santa Cruz who both can handle the job. Junior Ailenn Carr will help anchor the defense and help give more experience on the field. Wall's strong freshman class will be put to the test this season.
6. Brick Memorial- After a couple up and down seasons BM made their mark last season going 15-4-1. They graduated a couple key pieces on the field but brought back the majority of their team. They will need someone to step up and replace the production of Izzy Hernandez who seemed to be involved with every goal. Senior Makenzie Fanning will look to increase on her 8 goals from last season and junior Chloe Gellici seemed to have the knack of being in the right place at the right time. Twins Lexi and Mia also will be looking to increase their scoring production as they control midfield. Senior Peyton Vigginao will anchor the back line for the Mustangs.
7. Middletown South - They had a down year for their standards but their losses were to top teams in the state. Senior Abby Doherty is healthy to start this season and with Camryn Szotak, Coach Barry has options moving them around in the midfield and defense, Senior Makayla Jaffe lead the team with 8 goals. She will aim to get that to double digits to help improve on MS record from last year. They do bring back junior Allie Greco in net, with a year facing tough competition you should see her be in the conversation for post season awards.
8. Colts Neck - CN is one of those teams that will improve as the season goes on. The graduated majority of their offense and it might take Coach Hein a few games to find the right rotation but they should be the front runners for B North. Senior Juli Coniglio will lead the team. Their defense should be solid right from the start with Anna Casler and Kylie Jocoutot in front of junior Mia Nikolic in net.
9. Manalapan - The team is lead by juniors Sydney Spilsbury and Vanessa Sarf. They are 1-2 scoring punch that lead their team last year. Team had 3 loses all to the #1 Freehold. That's a great resume. One concern this season, goalie Emma Guidotti (who I thought would contend for top spot on the All Shore Team) is out for the season. If they know who is going to step up in her place and look for Manalapan to move up the rankings.
10. St. Rose - Surprise team on the list. They should run through the very weak B Central division. New head coach Mike Hurley will hope to get them going in the right direction this season. They are led by Senior Adriana Dalia on offense who had 19 goals last season and on defense the back line is anchored by Sofia Gialanella. Her sister, sophomore Ava Gialanella, should provide St Rose with flexibility in the midfield and up front. Look for sophomore Lizzie Mitchell to improve on her 7 goals as a freshman. In net junior Izzy Levy returns with a full year in net last season.
