Week 4 Top 10
Top 10
9/26 to 10/1 (Previous Weekend)
1. Freehold Township (1) 9-1-0 - The Patriots keep rolling. defeating Marlboro 5-0 and crushing Bridgewater-Raritan 7-0 in the Mountains Vs Sea Event. This week they face off against division rival #3 Howell to decide the top spot in A North. They end the week with Wall.
2. RBC (2) 6-2-0 - RBC had a couple tough games this week and they did what great teams do, find a way to win. First they beat Rumson 1-0 early in the week and then beat Immaculata 4-3. They were trailing 3-1 in the late stages of the second half and scored 3 goals in 7 minutes to win. Busy week for the Casey's Monmouth Regional then tough games vs Wall and then against #4 Brick Memorial saturday.
3. Howell (3) 8-0-1 - Howell had a light week beating Freehold Boro 3-0. This week will be the tell tale if they can hang with the big dogs. Middletown South on Monday and if they win that game they face #1 Freehold for A North title on Thursday.
4. Brick Memorial (4) 6-1-1 - Brick Memorial had an amazing back and forth game against #9 Central Regional. They escaped with a 4-3 victory to take control of A South. Later in the week they defeated Southern 5-0. This week they have Toms River South, which they can not sleep on if they want to win A South. Then Marlboro and end the week against #2 RBC.
5. Manalapan (5) 5-2-1 - They were defeated by Watchung Hills in the Mountains vs Sea Event 2-0. They went down early 2-0 and fought hard against one of the top teams in the state in north Jersey.
6. Point Boro (7) 8-0-0 - Point Boro keeps rolling, defeating Donovan 1-0 and Barnegat 3-0. I have said they play a weak schedule, but watching them play this week in person they are a complete team. This week cross town rival Point Beach and then Manchester to wrap up B South. They end the week with Shore Regional.
7. SJV (6) 6-2-1 - Busy week for SJV, first they defeated Neptune 4-0 then followed that with a tough win against Toms River East 2-1. They dropped their game against Pingry 4-2 in the Mountains vs Sea Event, but they looked very strong in that game and they were just a couple feet away from going up 3-2 at one point in that game.
8. TRN (10) 5-4-0 - TRN is starting to roll, just as we expected. They defeated rival TRE 4-0 then Brick Twp 5-0. They lost to state powerhouse Hunterdon Central 4-0, but they were missing a couple pieces that caused a line-up change (not saying that's why they lost). This week they have tough games against Jackson Memorial, Allentown and Middletown North. TRN is a team the top 3 seeds in SCT will want to avoid early on.
9. Lacey (NR) 6-2-1 - Lacey has turned into the team I thought they would be. Winning five straight and 6 out of 7, they defeated division opponents Barnegat 3-0 and Lakewood 6-0. They ended the week with a 6-2 win over St. Rose. This week they have two hard tests against Central Regional and Jackson Memorial and add Pinelands in the middle of the games.
10. Middletown South (NR) 5-3-1 - Middletown South is going to be one of the most battle tested teams entering postseason. I said to someone this week, "Give me a .500 team that plays a hard schedule over an undefeated team that plays a weak schedule". This week they defeated Midd North 1-0 and then beat a good Somerville team in the Mountains VS Sea Event 3-2. This week they will try to ruin #3 Howell's chances for A North and then they play Freehold Boro and Manasquan.
Bubble
Central Regional (9) 5-3-1 - Lost a tough one against Brick Memorial then to Jackson Memorial. Still a dangerous team to face in postseason.
Wall (8) 6-2-0 - Lost the two games where they played good teams this season. They will be tested this week when they play Rumson and RBC.
